Long ago, King Angadhwaja took care of his subjects very well. He refused to receive the prasad which made him very unhappy. Once he was passing through a forest after hunting many wild beasts. He came near a banian tree. He saw some people called gopies (who tend the cows- cowboys!) doing pooja for Satyanarayan with total devotion. But the king did not go there and not only that, he did not pray to Satyanarayan. However, the Gopies brought the prasad for the King Then they went back to their place to eat the prasad. They were all happy afterwards. But the King became very sad by refusing the prasad.

The king lost his hundred sons as well as all the wealth. He thought that these bad things happened to him because of Satyanarayan's curse. Then he went to the place of Gopies and performed the pooja with devotion for Satyanarayan with all Gopies. With Satyanarayan's prasad, he got back his hundred sons and all his wealth. Then he enjoyed his life here and when he died, he was in Satyanarayan's home.

Whoever does this pooja for Satyanarayan or listens to this story of Satyanarayan with devotion and faith gets all the good results and all the wealth. By eating Satyanaryan's prasad, he or she also gets all the wealth and freedom from the ties (of this world) and if one is suffering from the fear (of this world) he or she becomes fearless after eating Satyanaryan's prasad.

This is all about pooja and how the mankind gets benefit of freedom from all the miseries just by doing pooja for Satyanarayan.

Specially in this (kali Yug) age of suffering and quarrels this pooja for Satyanarayan gives good results. Some call Satyanarayan as Kal (meaning the God of Time) or ish (the God) or Satyadev. We find him in this form of pooja to fulfil our desires.

Whoever reads this story of Satyanarayan or even listens this story, will be free from all the sins with the grace of Satyanrayan.
